We are delighted to be welcoming Mrs Jo Legge to the team as our new Head Teacher, Mrs Legge will be joining us after the Christmas break but the children may see her around the school before then as she is hoping to come up for a visit next week.
This will take place on Wednesday 9th December – if you have not pre-ordered a Christmas lunch please can you provide your child with a packed lunch. All orders should have been made by Monday 30th November.
Unfortunately, due to the ongoing pandemic we are unable to distribute Christmas Cards this year and have been asked to discourage the children from bringing cards in to school – we appreciate that this may be disappointing, however we adhere to guidelines.
This takes place on Friday 11th December – children are invited to wear their Christmas jumpers to school on this date.
Please note that the date of the P4/5 and P6/7 party has changed to Tuesday 15th December, Nursery and P1/2/3 remain as Thursday 17th December – children can wear their party clothes to school on the dates of their parties – unfortunately they cannot get changed once at school.
As the weather has turned colder and wetter please can you ensure that your child has suitable, warm outdoor clothing with them each day.
Can you please arrange payment of this if you have not already done so – thank you.
We can confirm that this remains as Tuesday 22nd December – we are aware that there has been a lot of speculation in the media that this may change again however we can confirm that our holiday dates are as previously communicated – breaking up on December 22nd and returning on 6th January.
Please see attached.
With current COVID-19 restrictions on parents entering East Lothian Council school buildings, it will not be possible for parents to visit their catchment school to enrol their child for the P1 intake in August 2021.
East Lothian Council’s Education Service are currently looking at alternative options for the P1 enrolment this year. Further information regarding P1 enrolment will be available soon.
The next Parent Council meeting is on Wednesday 7th October via Google Meets – the agenda and the minutes from the AGM are attached for your information. All are welcome to attend (albeit on a virtual basis) the code for the google meet is on the agenda and this can be accessed via your child’s Edubuzz account.
We are delighted to report that all the children have settled in well returning to full time hours.
Please ensure that your child has warm, waterproof clothing as we will continue to take learning outdoors when possible.
The children should wear PE kit to school on Monday’s and Thursday’s. This will take place outdoors when possible.
Please ensure that your child has a filled water bottle with them each day.

We are looking forward to seeing the children using these skills in the classroom.

A copy of the invitation to next week’s Community Ceilidh to which all are invited is attached, we look forward to welcoming you to this event.
Can you please ensure that your child is at their collection point in time for their allocated pick-up time in the morning. Eves have reported that some children are coming out late and this impacts on other children who have been out on time.
Congratulations and good luck to Oliver who has been selected to swim in the finals on Friday following his performance at last week’s event.
Our final fundraising total for this was £229 – for which we received an email from Social Bite thanking everyone for their efforts.
Thank you to all the parents who attended today’s open morning, there was a lot of positive feedback following this event and the children enjoyed seeing you all and sharing the work of the pupil voice groups. Also thanks to the parents who visited the Early Years Centre

Congratulations to the P6/7 pupils who represented the school earlier this week at the Rotary Quiz they gave a very good performance – in particular excelling in the observation round.
Well done to the pupils who travelled to the Mercat Gait centre to represent the school in the small schools leg of the East Lothian Swimming Gala. Strong performances all round – we await the official results to find out if any of them will progress to the next round.
Our Early Years Centre continue to share their good practice and have welcomed visitors from Greengables Nursery in Edinburgh as well as from St Martins in Tranent. It was a pleasure to welcome them and both sets of visitors were very impressed with our Early Years Centre as well as with our fantastic children!
We are looking forward to our open morning which will take place on Friday 31st January – this will focus on the work undertaken by our pupil voice groups at an assembly followed by an opportunity to visit your child’s class. Information has been sent separately regarding this.
This has been organised by our Pupil Voice Groups and will take place on Thursday 6th February in the Village Hall with refreshments provided by the Parent Council.
If you have not yet returned this for your child can you please arrange to do so as soon as possible, if you require another copy of the form please let us know.
