P3/4/5/6/7 visit to the Penicuik House Project

Tomorrow, our P3/4/5/6/7 pupils will be going on a trip to Penicuik House, Penicuik, Midlothian as part of their interdisciplinary work all about ‘Structures’.

Penicuik House dates back to 1761.  In 1899, there was a serious fire, which destroyed the roof and interiors of the house, and it has stood as a ruin for over 100 years.  However, a project is underway to conserve the buildings and the grounds.  During their visit, the pupils will look at the history of Penicuik House, how the building was built, the materials used and think about why we want to keep older buildings. It’s a fun day with lots to see, a craft activity and quiz.  Further information about the project can be found on their website – www.penicuikhouse.co.uk

Pupils will leave school at 9.15 am and will return for the end of the school day.

Our P1/2 pupils were at Penicuik House before the October holidays and came back very excited having thoroughly enjoyed their day out!
