Smartcard Transfer of Information

Queen Margaret University would like to offer East Lothian Council SmartCard holders (our current P7 pupils will shortly receive their Smartcards for their transition days at Dunbar Grammar School)  the opportunity to take advantage of a range of its facilities, including:

  • Learning Resource Centre
  • Sports facilities—fitness suite, sports hall, exercise & dance studio, outdoor flood-lit Astroturf pitch, Zumba, Spin, Pilates, Pump FX
  • Food court
  • University shop
  • Conference and event facilities.

To enable SmartCard holders to take advantage of facilities at Queen Margaret University, East Lothian Council needs permission to share personal data given to the council in support of a SmartCard. The only data that we will pass on is the person’s name and SmartCard number.

East Lothian Council will assume that people have given permission to this transfer of data if we do not hear from them by 23 June 2011. For more information and to say ‘no’ to the transfer of personal data to Queen Margaret University, you should phone 01620 827920 or email

As perviously mentioned, this will apply to Primary 7 children, who will shortly receive their Smartcards for their transition days.

Milk Money – Summer Term

The next instalment of milk money for the term from April – July 2011, is now due.

If you wish your child to have mid morning milk for this term (and have not paid for the full year), please arrange to send £6.75 in cash or a cheque (payable to East Lothian Council), into school by Wednesday 7th April 2011.

Children who are entitled to free school meals will also receive free mid morning milk.

Get Going

We would like to let you know of the availability of a new healthy living programme provided by NHS Lothian and East Lothian Council called “Get Going”

Get Going is a free family healthy lifestyle programme which supports children to work towards a healthy weight. It’s about working together as a family to make small lifestyle changes. Supported by a trained coach, you’ll learn more about eating well and being more active. Children will get the opportunity to take part in fun, active games, while parents share ideas and experiences

Get Going consists of eight sessions, taking place in enjoyleisure sports centres or community venues once a week. It starts with a one-to-one consultation with the family and a specially trained healthy lifestyle coach. This is followed by a series of interactive group sessions.

Each week a different topic is covered, from introducing a healthier eating plan, to discussions around physical activity and thinking about the amount of time spent watching television or playing on the computer.

School Closure

Due to further heavy snowfalls in Innerwick and the surrounding area, the decision has been made to close the school to pupils for the rest of the day.  ACs taxis (school transport) are coming at 12 noon to collect the children and we are contacting the rest of the parents now.  Members of staff will remain in school until all pupils have been collected or have left.

It is hoped that school will be open tomorrow as usual and the Christmas Assembly will be on in the church at 9.30am.  However, please check the school website for updates.

The Nursery children have had their Christmas party and P1-P7 are having a little party just now!

Innerwick School is Open!

Monday 20th December – Innerwick Primary School is open.  The road up to the school is passable with care.  However, Transport have advised that they do not think it is safe for us to travel to Berwick-upon-Tweed so, sadly, our pantomime trip has been cancelled.

All being well, we expect school to be open every day until the end of term (Thursday 23rd December), but any changes will be posted here and you can also check the East Lothian Council website for any updates.  If the children do have to remain at home, there are links to lots of activities here on the website.

Many thanks for your patience and support during these difficult times.

School Opening – Monday 20th December

As you will be aware a considerable amount of snow has fallen throughout East Lothian.  East Lothian Council inform us that Roads and Transportation are keeping primary routes open and will be working on secondary routes throughout the night.  They also say that School Transport may be disrupted and notification will be posted on the Council’s website in the morning.

At the moment, I presume that we will be able to travel to Berwick-upon-Tweed to see the pantomime but, if not, we will remain in school as usual.
