After taking part in their sponsored ramble, the children enjoyed making willow wreaths to sell at the Christmas Fair. Thank you to Mrs Mells for coming in to teach everyone!

RNLI
Our charity for the year 2017/2018 is the RNLI. P4/5 have written to Dunbar Lifeboat Station asking for a school visit and hopefully this will be taking place in October.
Sandcastles on the Beach
Yesterday the nursery children enjoyed a trip in the minibus to Thorntonloch Beach. First they had to each build 10 sandcastles as they had been sponsored by their friends and family to carry out this challenge. With the money raised from this sponsored event, we hope to buy some new toys and other resources for the nursery.
After all that digging, they then enjoyed a healthy snack before heading along the beach in search of interesting items to create transient art pictures.
There was then time for some races along the sand – running races, walking backwards races, running sideways races and running with a partner races. All that running certainly helped to warm them up!
Before we headed back to Nursery, the children enjoyed jumping on their sandcastles to flatten them out and leave the beach just as they had found it! Thank you to all the parents and siblings who joined us. We were so glad the sun shined, and the hailstones from the previous day stayed away!
We will let you know how much we raised once the sponsor money has all been returned.
Nursery Bake Sale
The nursery children held a bake sale to raise money to buy a defibrillator for the local community.
Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who kindly baked us
lots of lovely goodies for the sale.
Pupils, parents and staff all bought from our stall and we raised over £115. THANK YOU EVERYONE!

Nursery Adventure Course – 17th May 2016
Today the nursery children had so much fun completing a Sponsored Adventure Course. The children had previously chosen the different activities to include, and these were set up in the nursery garden and in the main school playground.
Each child was then encouraged to complete 10 laps. Activities included: whizzing down the slide, crawling through a tunnel, wriggling under a scramble net, running, jumping, rolling tyres, throwing beanbags and wellies, and pedalling a bike or scooter around a track. All children showed great determination and perseverance, and amazed everyone with their stamina and energy.
We are going to use the sponsor money we collect to buy new resources for our Nursery, which the children will help to choose in the next few weeks.
Many thanks to all the wonderful parents who came along to help and cheer on the participants.
Well done, everyone.
The teachers were VERY proud of you all!
UPDATE: The children raised £360! An amazing achievement for just 11 children.
Fairtrade Cafe
P5/6/7 would like to thank everyone who turned up at the Fairtrade Café on Friday. You all helped make the event a great success. As a school we made a lot of money to give to a good cause. The other classes also had a fantastic end to their enterprise topics- so once again a big thank you for supporting your local school !
Children In Need 2015
Thank you to everyone for their donations – we managed to raise a total of £225.43 which is a fantastic amount for such a small school!
