Mrs Laing was very proud and honoured to provide a workshop on Innerwick Early Years Setting’s Block Play Project at the Edinburgh Froebel Conference on Saturday 21st September. Please read the presentation below, we hope you enjoy learning about the changes that took place and marvel at the children’s creativity. Children are now empowered to play everyday with blocks. The whole early years team have been working really hard over the last few years to develop practice. Hard work has paid off and we were recently awarded the ELC Innovation Award from the Scottish Government. We enjoyed meeting the Scottish Minister for Children and Young People, Ms Maree Todd, who visited to find out about the innovation, meet the children and staff and hand over the award. The team have launched a research project which will further develop the identified innovation, the Map-do-review method. Below is the storyboard designed by Mrs Laing, which shows the theory of change for the project. Mrs Laing will be sharing the project work at various conferences as it progresses over 2019-2020. Thank you to all the P4-7 pupils who came along to the STEM after school club over the last 6 weeks. I didn’t anticipate how popular the club would be and it was great to see so many pupils enthusiastic and motivated over STEM activities. Lots of problem solving, creative thinking and fun!
