Sports Day Week

We crammed a lot into this week as usual. Lots of spelling, writing, maths, and in our Olympic topic we were learning all about the digestive system. We also had an unusual visitor (Caleb’s cat) and a beautiful singing performance from P1/2. And of course there was Sports afternoon (see separate post) which we had to train for.

We are really looking forward to health week to try lots of exciting healthy activities and experience even more outdoor learning.

Meadowmill

The P5’s, P6’s and P7’s turned up at the Meadowmill Sports Centre to represent the school in the East Lothian athletics competition yesterday. The team did very well competing as they were against a majority of bigger schools. Our supporters were in full voice and behaved very well showing up the school in a good light. And in the events, all our competitors gave 100% and did themselves proud. Well done to everyone involved.

World Of Work

We had lots of different people coming in to school this week to talk about the jobs they did. It was really interesting to discover how different they all were, how hard they were(!) and what skills and knowledge you needed to do them. Thanks to everyone who came in – we really enjoyed it.

And of course, all our normal stuff went on. More “Time” in maths, writing newspaper reports in language, learning about how the heart and lungs work in our Olympic topic, did our bike checks and we even had time to squeeze in two sessions with the cricket development officer.

Fairtrade Cafe

P5/6/7 would like to thank everyone who turned up at the Fairtrade Café on Friday. You all helped make the event a great success. As a school we made a lot of money to give to a good cause. The other classes also had a fantastic end to their enterprise topics- so once again a big thank you for supporting your local school !

Enterprise & Hockey

It’s been another hectic week with hardly any time when the whole class has been together. The P6’s were away all day on Wednesday at an Enterprise event, the P7’s were away all day at a transition event and the P5’s had a morning out working on their John Muir award. Throw into the mix, a hockey taster, starting our “mindfulness” sessions, cramming in more Fairtrade work,  planting potatoes, continuing with our e-portfolios and the p7’s completing transition assessments and you can see we didn’t have much spare time.
