A busy afternoon in P4/5
P4/5 have had a busy afternoon continuing with our human body topic.
During PE this afternoon, we calculated our heart rate when resting and compared it to our heart rate after doing physical activity. We then described how our pulse rate changed after exercising, and explained why it had changed.
Then it was back to class where we worked collaboratively to plan, script and perform an advert for leading a healthy lifestyle. Simon Cowell even made an appearance to judge some healthy and unhealthy lifestyles!
P6/7 PE Apparatus
The P6/7 class finished their gymnastic sessions with Mrs Anderson, the PE specialist with some exciting and creative work done on the gymnastic apparatus.
P6/7 Rugby
P6/7 have recently finished a very thorough and enjoyable series of rugby sessions with Chris Laidlaw. Surprisingly coinciding with some good weather, the P6/7 pupils showed a lot of enthusiasm during the sessions and demonstrated an increasing level of skill. Well done everyone!
X-ray Art
This week P4/5 have been looking at bones as part of our human body topic. Today we made an x-ray of the bones in our hand using cotton buds and icing sugar. It was very messy!

Scottish SPCA Visit
P1-7 received a visit from the Scottish SPCA this morning. Each class participated in a different workshop, which involved watching videos and playing games. P4/5 discussed the importance of caring for all animals and also learned lots of interesting facts about different animals… Did you know a sea monkey has three eyes?!
P4/5 visit to the Palace of Holyroodhouse
P4/5 had a great morning consolidating our learning about the Jacobites at the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Unfortunately, we weren’t allowed to take pictures when we got inside the Palace… which was a shame because Grant got the chance to dress up as Bonnie Prince Charlie!
While we were there we had the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of the Jacobites with a member of the Palace Learning Team, visiting rooms used by Bonnie Prince Charlie. We also got a chance to handle replica Jacobite objects! We all had a fantastic time!
