Danish visitors

Our Danish visitors arrived yesterday morning at Edinburgh airport on time but a little sleepy from their early start. They had to catch a train to get from Langeskov to Copenhagen and were up at around 2.30am to start their journey. They are now settled in their home for the week – Innerwick Field Studies Centre. Yesterday afternoon they had a tour of Innerwick Primary School – thank you Mrs Gordon their Head Teacher for coming in to school on her holiday to show them around. Today they are off to Edinburgh, accompanied by Miss Thomson, and have an action packed day with a bus tour, visit to the Castle, Mary King’s Close and Dynamic Earth. Tomorrow they meet their P5 hosts for a Danish breakfast and spend a day at Law Primary. Photos coming soon!

Euroquiz champions

Congratulations to the P6 team from Law who won the East Lothian heat of the Euroquiz 2013 on Wednesday.  They travelled to Loretto School in Musselburgh and competed against 10 teams from other schools in the county.  After four rounds the two highest scoring teams went into the final round where they were put on the spot with 20 questions about European history, geography, culture and current affairs.  They beat Loretto 10-7 and so now go forward to represent East Lothian in the national final at the Scottish Parliament in May.  Well done for all your hard work!

Fair Trade Bake Off

The Fair Trade committe have organised the Great Law Primary Fair Trade Bake Off and this morning all the results are on display in the GP room.  We have had a fantastic number of entries and the cup cakes will be judged by our specialist judges this morning.  Cakes will go on sale to children later in the morning.  You can see some of the wonderful creations here:

Middle and Upper Areas Church Services

Our classes from P4 to P7 braved the weather this morning to walk to church for their end of term services. Both services were lovely occasions with fantastic singing, drama, dance, poetry and readings. A big thank you to all the parents and friends who came along to support us. The retiral collections amounted to over £300 and this will be split between our five local charities: RNLI, Leuchie House, E Lothian Special Needs Playscheme, Friends of the Edington Hospital and Riding Therapy.
The children and staff worked incredibly hard in preparation for today and it was a lovely end to the term.
Have a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year. School opens again to pupils on Tuesday 8th January 2013.

Parents and Friends ‘Thank You’ Coffee Morning

Parents, friends and helpers were invited to a coffee morning today to say thank you for the support they give to the school.  Our House Captains were on the door to meet and greet our visitors and looked after them very well, serving refreshments and being very attentive hosts and hostesses.

Thank you also to Miss Hickman and her pupils for the musical entertainment.  Here are some photos of the event.

Internet Safety Talk

A reminder that there will be an internet safety talk for parents and carers next Tuesday at 7pm in the hall.  Thanks to everyone who has returned the reply slip.  If you have not done so already please return to the office so that we can make sure there is a seat for you.
