The Fair Trade committe have organised the Great Law Primary Fair Trade Bake Off and this morning all the results are on display in the GP room.  We have had a fantastic number of entries and the cup cakes will be judged by our specialist judges this morning.  Cakes will go on sale to children later in the morning.  You can see some of the wonderful creations here:

p3/4 go Fairtrade

P3/4 have been learning about Fairtrade this week.  Today we made models using our Fairtrade Origami arrows and Fairtrade packaging.

Thank you to everyone who entered the Gardening Show this year. We have had some fantastic and very creative entries.  The judges looked at everything this afternoon and after a lot of head scratching have picked the winners in each category.  Come along tomorrow morning and have a look.

Representatives from each year stage will be helping to plant our fruit trees tomorrow too.  We are looking forward to seeing the orchard take shape.

Leafy Law

The orchard group are delighted to announce that Law will have a new orchard. We are getting eight fruit trees from Grounds For Learning. We will get four apple trees and four plum trees. They are going to be delivered on the 19th of February.Watch this space for more updates.

P3/4 Park Project

Seesaw and Roundabout

We have been learning about the mechanisms that make playground equipment move. We started our project with a visit to the park in the Lodge Grounds where we found lots of different ways to make things move. So far we have investigated levers, we have built our own seesaws and wheels and axles, which we used to make roundabouts. We have also carried out experiments to investigate forces.

Middle and Upper Areas Church Services

Our classes from P4 to P7 braved the weather this morning to walk to church for their end of term services. Both services were lovely occasions with fantastic singing, drama, dance, poetry and readings. A big thank you to all the parents and friends who came along to support us. The retiral collections amounted to over £300 and this will be split between our five local charities: RNLI, Leuchie House, E Lothian Special Needs Playscheme, Friends of the Edington Hospital and Riding Therapy.
The children and staff worked incredibly hard in preparation for today and it was a lovely end to the term.
Have a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year. School opens again to pupils on Tuesday 8th January 2013.

Parents and Friends ‘Thank You’ Coffee Morning

Parents, friends and helpers were invited to a coffee morning today to say thank you for the support they give to the school.  Our House Captains were on the door to meet and greet our visitors and looked after them very well, serving refreshments and being very attentive hosts and hostesses.

Thank you also to Miss Hickman and her pupils for the musical entertainment.  Here are some photos of the event.
