School Meals

Lunchtime Arrangements

Pupils can choose to have either a school lunch or bring a packed lunch from home. School meals are prepared by the school’s own kitchen, and served in the dining hall. Pupils can choose soup and a main meal or main meal and dessert, or one of our lighter bites. The meals are accompanied by a selection of vegetables and a choice of milk or water. Supervision is by dining room supervisors and a member of the teaching staff. Meals cost a fixed price of £2.15 for P6-7, which is paid and ordered via the schoolpay system.

Please take time to discuss with your child what they might like, and make the selection and payment online by the Sunday evening.

If opting for a school meal,  children will decide whether they are having a main meal (blue band), the vegetarian option (green band) or Lighter bite (yellow band).  These colours correspond with the colour coding printed on the menu.  They will then be issued with a band of an appropriate colour and the kitchen will cook sufficient quantities of each meal to ensure that no one is disappointed.  Children must not change bands with anyone else as they will be given the meal which corresponds with their colour.

MENU

The menu consists of a choice of 2 main meal options (includes a vegetarian choice), a filled baked potato option and a dessert. Free bread, salad and a cold drink is available with every meal. This menu is available Monday–Thursday with a packed lunch option available on Friday.

As you know there is a Scottish Government initiative whereby all P1– P4 pupils can have a free school lunch. Monday– Thursday is the usual menu (available on the school website) and a packed lunch is available to take away on a Friday. The packed lunch on a Friday is only available if you have ordered it the Sunday prior.

The application form for applying for free school meals can be downloaded from HERE, or you can collect one from the school office.

All pupils in P1-4 are entitled to free school meals, however if their parents wish to receive free milk for their child(ren) they have to make an application for free school meals.
