“The Beeman”

Posted by: | May 30, 2017 | No Comment |

Some of the children were interested in bugs. One of the books we read was called “The Beeman”. So were super excited when a real bee keeper, Clive, came to visit us yesterday. He told us all about bees and how we cares for his hive. Why not ask your child what they found interesting!?!

We had honey for snack today – it was delicious!!!

Butterflies!!!!!

Posted by: | May 24, 2017 | No Comment |

Isobel had been taking cars of caterpillars. She brought in butterflies which had just hatched from their cocoons.

Jack asked the question “How do butterflies smell?” so we asked Google. It was interesting – they smell through their feet and antennae.

We released the butterflies in our garden. We put out burst satsumas to encourage the butterflies to stay in our garden because they like the sweet juice.

Helping Hedgehogs

Posted by: | October 4, 2016 | No Comment |

Hedgehogs are in decline. We watched the video below and made a list of things we could do to help the hedgehogs then we checked in our garden to see if we had a ‘hedgehog friendly garden’. We had to move our hedgehog house and cut a small hole in our fence. Can you help hedgehogs in your garden?
