Harvest Collection

Posted by: | September 17, 2015 | No Comment |

On Wednesday Loraine and Steven from Basics Bank Dunbar came to collect the items brought in for our harvest collection.

We just received this message from Lorraine:
“It was lovely to meet everyone today when we picked up the food donation for the Basics Bank. It was especially nice to see all the children’s contributions as they placed their food in our car. The food donation weighed in at 72kg which is an amazing effort by the children. Please convey our heartfelt thanks for all who took part and let the children know that we were very impressed by the way they showed that they had thought about where the food was going. Thanks for all your efforts. Lorraine Gilchrist”

Tea Towels Fundraiser

The pre-school children have been drawing faces ready to be printed onto a tea towel. The tea towels are now on sale.

If you would like to order a tea towel please return the order form and payment via the red mail box outside your child’s classroom. The cost will be £4 per tea towel. We will have the towels back in November. They will make an ideal gift for a relative, friend or a keepsake of your child’s art work that they have done at nursery. All profits will benefit the nursery.

Last day for ordering is Friday 31st October 2014

Brain chat

Posted by: | February 6, 2014 | No Comment |

Sarah (Georgia’s mummy) came in this morning to talk about her job as a pyschologist and about our brains.
We found out lots of information….like…. the brain is protected by our skulls and it helps us understand the world around us by passing messages from our senses and other parts of the body; it helps us with balance/movement, touch, taste, sight, hearing and memory. These messages are passed along by nerves. We tried to create a diagram of the nervous system.
We also talked about how to keep our brains healthy by wearing a helmet when doing sports, drinking water and sleeping and eating healthy food.
We really enjoyed looking at the model brains too!
Some of us made name badges like Sarah’s. this also led onto the children sharing what they would like to be when they are older: Rauridh “a dinosaur bone collecter”, Eadie “dress designer” Blaise “doctor”….
Thank you Sarah for coming in!!!!
