*1/2 cup of salt
*1 cup of flour
*1 tablespoon of cream of tartar
*1 tablespoon of oil
*1 cup of boiling water (from the kettle) mixed with
some food colouring
What to do:
Put all the dry ingredients in a bowl and then mix vigourously with the hot water.

*175g (6oz) self-raising flour
*50g (2oz) soft margarine
*50g(oz)caster sugar
*2 medium eggs
*4 x 15ml milk
*2 apples OR 3 ripe(brown spotted) bananas OR strawberry conserve
What to do:
1. Heat oven to 200ºC, 400ºF, Gas Mark 6. Grease a muffin tray or use paper muffin cases.
2. Place flour in a bowl and mash in the margarine using a fork. Stir in the sugar, eggs, milk and beat to a smooth consistency. Gently stir in the conserve, just enough to make a marbled effect.
3. Spoon the mixture into the muffin tray/cases dividing it equally. Bake for 20-25 minutes until well risen and brown. Leave to stand for a few minutes then cool on a wire rack. *Baking time depends upon the size of the muffin tray.

*225g (8oz) Be-Ro Self Raising Flour
*pinch of salt
*50g (2oz) margarine
*50g (2oz) caster sugar
*1 medium egg
*some milk
What to do:
1.Heat oven to 200ºC, 400ºF, Gas Mark 6 and grease a baking tray.
2.Mix flour and salt, rub in margarine.
3.Stir in sugar and mix to a soft dough with the egg and milk.
4.Knead lightly on a floured board.
5.Roll dough out to just over 1 cm (½ inch) in thickness and use a cutter to cut out scones and place on the baking tray.
6.Bake for about 10-15 minutes.
