Project Playground
We are trying to restock the playpod (please see the message below and attachment):
7 years ago a group of inspirational parents set out to make the playground at Law an inspiring and fun space to play. After lots of fundraising and support from our community they bought a container that acts like a giant toy box. It was named Charlies Pod after a Law primary pupil called Charlie Kay and the funds he had raised to support the project. The container was filled with recycled items that would otherwise go to landfill. These items were then used for loose parts play and the imaginations of children ran wild and free. 7 years on we want to relaunch Charlie’s Pod so the children at Law can once again enjoy loose parts play which has endless physical and mental health benefits. We will be training the P3 children in a week’s time which is really exciting. So how can you help ? Well, we need to make sure the pod is well stocked. Do you have any waste products that could be reused? Do you have any items that could be recycled? If you do then let’s reduce our waste and support play in our community. Please see the attached poster to see the types of items we are looking for. Contact Melanie Kay on 07759423066 or email on kaymelanie185@gmail.com

Coordination of the Parent Council
After 2 years, the coordination team is passing on the baton. A great opportunity for a small group of parents to create a team to work alongside the school. It’s a great way to get to know other parents and a really privileged position as a parent to be able to work so closely with the Senior Management Team. We would like to have the team in place before the summer holidays so we can work with you to ensure a smooth transition. If you’re interested please drop us an email and we can explain more about the roles, time commitment etc.
Best wishes

- The PowerPoint from last night is here https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1IiNDGufSdslRf_o9nuAnicnI-qFEEdvi/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=112260792578022560108&rtpof=true&sd=true
- To find out more about Five in a Row (and donate!) https://www.fiveinarow.co.uk/
- We are keen to organise some online parent info evenings and the first one we would like to do is one on online safety tips for parents. Please email us if you know someone who can deliver this session (we have a budget for the right person). We are looking for other ideas too – please add them to our jamboard https://jamboard.google.com/d/1n3vpCMN-ImIMeFZW15DWD7QMcsi579L1fDgcI4SlyJM/edit?usp=sharing
- If you are interested in helping out with our plans for the playground we are looking for parents to get involved at the end of Feb / start of March – to plant trees, clear out the playground and help fix things! Please email us or Michael ASAP as we can’t do it without your support yournewfriendmichael@gmail.com
- We are still looking for a parent to support the Junior Road Safety Officers – it’s a great opportunity to volunteer at the school to support a small group of pupils to help make a difference. Please email the PC or the school office FAO Sally Penman if interested. They have been looking for someone for a few months now, and it’s been disappointing for the pupils that no parents have come forward to support them.
- Finally we have realised over the past 18 months that new parents starting at school are finding it very difficult when they first arrive. We are hoping that a revamp of the parent handbook and website will help, but we have also identified a role that class reps can play in welcoming families. They also facilitate communication between classes and the school via the Parent Council as many issues / questions are often shared by parents. PLEASE email us if you can volunteer to be a class rep – the role is not very time consuming, it’s a nice way to get to know other parents and really does make a difference. We are looking for reps for the following classes…
P1A
P2 – Mrs Lima and P2W
P2/3
P3W
P4L and P4K
P5G and P5M
all P6 classes
P7B and P7K and P7R
As always, please contact us if you want to get more involved or have any feedback on our meetings etc.
Best wishes
The Parent Council Team.
