P7 Elections

This term we have been learning about the Scottish parliament and the democratic election process. We have learned about the workings of the Scottish parliament and following a visit from Iain Gray, we also learned about the day-to-day duties of an MSP.
In recent weeks we have formed ‘families’ in our local community and we have investigated the social issues and community concerns within East Lothian. Five MSP candidates were selected to form an election campaign. The candidates canvased the `families’ to find out their needs which formed the basis for their election campaign speeches. Yesterday the P7 MSP candidates gave their speeches and the rest of the year stage voted for the candidate who promised to address the particular needs of their ‘families’. The winning candidate was Keira who represented the `Blue Thistles’ party.
