We have been very busy experimenting with colour mixing using powder paints and at the water tray. We have been playing with porridge oats, and we had three bowls and three spoons of different sizes – just like the three bears! We went on a walk up to the woods and collected lots of leaves and twigs. When we got back to nursery we sorted them out into different types.
Last Friday we had a delivery from Qwik Lube in Musselburgh. They have kindly donated us 30 used tyres for our nursery playground. We are going to use some of them as planters, but as you can see, the children are enjoying playing with them so much we are going to leave lots for free, creative play on the nursery playground.
We would like to grow grass in some of the tyres, so the children can walk across them. If anyone has any offcuts of turf from a gardening project, we would be most grateful to receive them. We would also welcome any extra topsoil for our mud kitchen.
In the Nursery we have been reading different versions of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We have been thinking about what our favourite parts of the story are. We have been using puppets and teddy bears to act out the story. Some of us made some different sized bowls from clay for the bears!
