Dotty day!

We all worked together printing, painting and drawing dots on our giant dot to celebrate International Dot Day!  Primary One came and added their dots too!  Some of our families helped to make this fabulous dot too!  Here are some photos of us at work!

Head Teacher Recruitment, Parent Council Meeting – 6:30pm on Wednesday 17th September 2014 at Loretto RC Primary School

This will be a workshop meeting to construct two interview questions to be asked on behalf of the parent body as part of the new Head Teacher recruitment process. All parents are welcome and encouraged to come along. If you can’t make it on Wednesday, please remember that there’s a Suggestion Box on the table at the school office for your thoughts and ideas to be posted.

International Dot Day! Tuesday 15th September!

The Dot

We have been reading ‘The Dot’ by Peter H Reynolds.  It is about a little girl who thinks she can’t draw, and her discovery that she can ‘make her mark’.  Along with Primary 1, we have been making our own dots in a variety of ways.

On International Dot Day (Tuesday 15th September), please help us to decorate a giant dot in nursery by making your own mark when you drop off or collect the children.  Primary 1 are also going to join in.  If children have spotty clothes, could they please wear them on Tuesday to add to our collection of dots?

Here are some pictures of us making dots!

The Afternoon Group!

The children have all settled really well and are making lots of new friends.  This week we went to the Gym Hall for the first time which was very exciting.  We also explored the school grounds by visiting the woods and trim trail.

We take full advantage of the school facilities of the woods, field and trim trail to supplement the nursery indoor and outdoor play spaces.

Gym is on a Tuesday for both groups – please can children have a named pair of clean shoes to change into for gym.

Curriculum Evening – Tuesday 9th September

Please come and visit the nursery on Tuesday 9th September between 6:00-7:00pm.   Join us to find out a little bit more about the Currculum for Excellence and how your child learns in nursery.  We shall be explaining about how we use the ‘Big Book’ to follow the interests of the children and involve them in our planning.  Feel free to drop in and out if you have other children in the school whose classes you would like to visit.  There is a sign-up sheet next to the register.

Experimenting with colour!

We dripped paint onto paper, folded it over and squished it flat.  This made the paint into interesting patterns that looked like butterflies.  The pictures are going on the wall to make a colourful display.

Outdoor Fun!

We have had great fun outdoors with our ‘big water play’, mud kitchen, role play and climbing frame.  The children put on their own waterproofs and wellies without adult support so please can you make sure they are wearing footwear they can manage by themselves?  Velcro fastenings are ideal.
