Our Christmas Show will take place on Tuesday 15th December at 9:30am in the school gym hall.  Both the Morning Group and Afternoon Group will be performing together and the show takes about half an hour. Further details will be given nearer the time – family and friends are welcome to come along to watch!

Improving our Outdoor Play Space – Part One!

Before! An unused part of the nursery outdoor space.

Before! An unused part of the nursery outdoor space.

Before!

Before!

This week at nursery we have been working together to begin to make our outdoor area a better place for playing and learning.

We now have a designated ‘water area’ outside, with some pipes and tubes attached to the shelter.  The resources we use for our big water play are now all stored in one of the small sheds so the children have easier access to water play.

As you can see by the video, the children from the Morning Group have been using the area and having great fun, learning about gravity, forces and properties of water, as well as developing their gross motor skills and working cooperatively together!

This area is still very much a ‘work in progress’ so if you have any ideas to further improve it, we welcome your suggestions!  We would also gratefully receive any unwanted jugs, tubes, guttering, gutter brackets or anything else that you think might be useful.

Rhyme of the Week – Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

This week’s rhyme of the week will be ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes’.

Here are the words:

Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes
Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes
And eyes and ears and mouth and nose
Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes

The next verses are sung by leaving out the first word sung in the one before, with children touching the body parts instead, without actually saying the word. For example:

—-, shoulders, knees and toes
—-, —-, knees and toes
and so on!
