Muddy Fun!

Some of the Afternoon Group children had great fun playing in the mud kitchen yesterday!  (It helps children access this kind of play if they are dressed in shoes they can take off/put on by themselves.)

Here are some of the photos of us getting very muddy!

Reminder – school photos next Thursday!

Just a wee reminder that Tempest Photography will be in Loretto next Thursday (October 6th) for individual and family photographs. If you have a child in the Afternoon Group and wish them to have their photo taken with a sibling in the school, please bring them to the gym hall at 9am that day. You will need to stay with your child until they have had their photo taken.  Thank you!camera

Balance Bike Training Progress!

4 groups of children are currently receiving balance bike training and they are doing really well.  So far we have learned the names of bike parts and the importance of wearing a helmet.  We have practised steering and braking, and played games such as Sleeping Snakes, What’s the Time, Mr Wolf? and Sea of Sharks.

The children’s listening skills are improving, and they are following instructions as well as learning to ride balance bikes.

We really need adult support for the sessions to run – if someone can come along and support each child it would help them get the most out of the lessons.  We only have two more weeks of lessons for the current groups.  Further groups will run in the afternoons after the October break for the children who haven’t had their training yet.

Here are some photos of us this week:

Digging for potatoes!

Today the nursery children dug out our planter. In the Summer term the children planted seed potatoes and they were delighted to dig out two enormous potatoes and many small ones. We look forward to cooking and tasting them for our snack tomorrow!

Rhyme of the Week – Hickory Dickory Dock

This week we shall be singing ‘Hickory Dickory Dock’ and learning the actions.  Here are the words.

Hickory Dickory Dock
The mouse ran up the clock
The clock struck one
The mouse ran down
Hickory Dickory Dock (tick, tock, tick, tock).

Other verses:
The clock struck two
The mouse went “boo!”
The clock struck three
The mouse went “weeee!”
The clock struck four
The mouse said, “no more!”

Rhyme of the Week – Miss Polly

Miss Polly had a dolly who was sick, sick, sick.
So she called for the doctor to come quick, quick, quick.
The doctor came with his bag and his hat
And he knocked on the door with a rat-a-tat-tat.
He looked at the dolly and he shook his head,
And he said “Miss Polly, put her straight to bed!”
He wrote on a paper for a pill, pill, pill,
“I’ll be back in the morning with my bill, bill, bill.”
