Exploring Nursery!

The afternoon group are all now very settled into the nursery routine. They have spent the last couple of weeks exploring, playing and making new friends.

Reading with Primary 1

This week Primary 1 visited the nursery. We shared our core stories together, looking at the pictures and thinking carefully about the beginning, middle and end of the story.

Fun with magnets!

The children have all settled back into the nursery routine well. We welcome all the new children and families to the nursery. This week the morning group have been exploring magnets, they have investigated objects found in the nursery that are magnetic and not magnetic, thinking carefully about common properties of materials that are magnetic. They enjoyed sorting them and recording their findings.

Nursery Sports

What a super sports day we had yesterday. Luckily the rain held off and everyone gave 110%. Have a look at our photos. Well done everyone!

Last week of term

Summer holidays are nearly here but there are still many events happening next week in both the Nursery and School.

On Monday there will be a football match played on the school field in memory of Jordan Houston. Jordan was a pupil of Loretto who sadly passed away. This match is played annually in his memory. The afternoon group nursery will watch some of the match and all parents are welcome to come along and support, The match kick off is 1:30pm.

On Tuesday is the Primary 7 leaving assembly. We are hoping to take the nursery children to this special end of term event. This is held in the church hall at 1:30pm. We require parent helpers to walk the children to and from the church hall. Please let a staff member know if you can help, you will need to be available between 1:15pm and 3:00pm.

On Wednesday is nursery sports. The morning group sports will be at 11:30am and the afternoon group at 1:30pm. This will be held on the grass area beside the trim trail.

Thursday is the morning groups last day. We will have a short celebration at 11:45am. All parents welcome.

Friday is the afternoon groups last day. We will have a short celebration for the children leaving the nursery at 11:45am. All parents welcome.

Nursery resumes on Wednesday 16th August. We wish everyone a lovely summer!

Our sponsored Wheel a Thon

Well done to all the children who took part in the Nursery sponsored Wheel a Thon. The children never gave up and managed round the track many times. After the Wheel a Thon the children were very tired and all had a lovely cold cup of water back in nursery. Have a look at the photos below.

PC Smith visits the Nursery

Today PC Smith, our school liaison officer, visited the children in both groups. The children learned that the job of a police officer is to keep everyone safe. He showed us his police uniform and we got to try on his hat and vest. We listened to the police siren and watched the flashing lights on his car. We also learned that we dial 999 in an emergency.

Bring your favourite story on Thursday.

This week at nursery we will be thinking about our favourite stories as it’s Bookbug week! On Thursday both the morning and afternoon group can bring their favourite stories to share with a Primary 6 buddy. We are hoping we can have a together picnic snack (weather permitting) as we read our stories. Happy reading ?!

Bean Planting and Fun with Veg

This week the children all planted a bean. We are looking forward to watching them grow and measuring them. We also had fun making carrot cake and printing with veg!
