Afternoon Group’s morning in the ‘Mud Kitchen’

The Afternoon Group had a lovely morning enjoying, exploring and experimenting with the ‘Mud Kitchen’. The children developed their knowledge of materials as they made chocolate cake and hot chocolate.

Children’s own bikes at nursery

As most of you are aware we no longer have the barriers that were used to create a bike storage area for the nursery. If your child wishes to bring a bike or scooter to nursery they should now be left padlocked in the designated bike storage area that is found in the front playground. This is normal practice for the school and I’m sure you will agree it makes sense to follow this policy. Please remember that bikes and scooters are left at your own risk.

Thank you for your continued support.

We have been learning about Scotland!

We have learned how to say ‘Good Day’ in Gaelic.
We have drawn and painted pictures of the national flower of Scotland, the thistle. We have made Saltires and created different kinds of tartan patterns.

On Monday we had a Burns Supper with two kinds of haggis – traditional and vegetarian – served with neeps and tatties of course! We have also had tattie scones for snack.

In the gym hall we danced to Scottish Country Dance Music. Here is some video of each group being very energetic and enthusiastic!

The Gruffalo!!!

We have had great fun reading The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child.  Kathleen very kindly came to read the Scot’s language versions of The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Wean.

The Morning Group made a giant Gruffalo scone, which was delicious!

Both groups have been working together to make a display with the characters of the Gruffalo!

600 Hours of Early Learning and Childcare for 3 & 4 year olds and priority 2 year olds. A chance to have your say.

In August 2014 the Government increased the number of hours of early learning and childcare (previously early education) from 12.5 hours a week to just over 15 hours a week during term time.

East Lothian Council extended the nursery sessions AM and PM to accommodate this change.  We want to hear your views on the additional hours, especially the way in which these changes have impacted on you as a family.

Come along to any one of the sessions below to let us know your views.

Teds’ Christmas!

Both Adventure Teds are enjoying their Christmas Holiday. They got very excited about opening presents on Christmas morning! They have been very good, and ate all their healthy vegetables (and a bit of chocolate too as a special treat!) They hope all the girls and boys had a great Christmas, and that Santa was kind to you all. See you all on Tuesday 6th January!

Nursery Christmas Parties

We had two very successful parties today, and were very lucky that Santa managed to make two visits to Loretto Nursery in one day! We had Gary James to entertain us with some magic, and as you can see by the photos from both groups, the children were entranced. We had some party food, then played some games before Santa arrived and he brought us all a present! Here are just a few of the photos that were taken today.

(As in previous years Mrs Gaunt will compile a CD of photos from both the show and party which will be available to order in January. This will include the photo of your child with Santa.)
