Teddy Bears’ Picnic

On Thursday, P1 enjoyed a wet but very fun trip to the Botanic Gardens! Bears under arms, we journeyed through the gardens learning about SWAF – Shelter, Water, Air and Food – the four things that every animal needs. After some bear games to start our day, we explored the temperate houses looking at different kinds of plants and their uses. Then beside the Coco de Mer tree, we received a letter from Edward the bear who gave us clues to take us back to the yurt for our picnic. In the afternoon, we imagined we were squirrels before designing islands using leaves, seeds and twigs that were fit for bears to live on. It was an amazing trip that made us think about many of our P1 topics – Materials, Toys, the Seasons and of course Living Things!

It was also Mrs Capaldi’s last full day with the class. Thank you P1 for being such a wonderful class!
