Torness Power Station

Yesterday P5-P7 children went to visit Torness Power Station. It was a fascinating visit and all of the children were confident in speaking about their learning experiences.
There were many different activities planned for the children. These included a tour of the power station, a quiz, interactive activities run by the police and firemen.
During the tour, the children visited many parts of the station including a viewing area of the reactors. They also got to watch the controllers doing their jobs.
The trip was inspirational in terms of thinking about our learning and how we can apply it to our everyday lives. Also the staff members at Torness really focussed on how we use our skills in our working lives. Many of the children are now thinking of their career preferences!
Thank you to Torness Power Station and to our many parent helpers for their support.
