School and nursery open as usual Thursday 19 September

Dear parents

As you know, today we had a problem with our heating in parts of the building and the children were accommodated in the school gym hall or with our friends and neighbours at the Burgh Primary School.

Engineers have visited and specialist cleaning and testing has taken place. The problem is resolved and we have been assured there is not, nor was, any risk to staff or pupils. We are grateful to our colleagues across  East Lothian for the swift support to ensure our comfort and safety and to our school staff for ensuring the children have also had a day of learning.

School and nursery will be OPEN as normal tomorrow Thursday 19th September.

Many thanks for your patience and support.

Well done boys and girls!

A Great Start to the Year in P7T

Well done to all of the children who have been working hard in P7T! I can’t believe that it is already the September holiday!

We started off by learning about the Bermuda Triangle, our pupil choice topic. This was very engaging for all of the children who used their detective skills to find out and to propose some theories. Some children were quite active in their imaginations. It was wonderful to read the stories that all of the children wrote.

We have now moved on to investigating myths. We are learning about the different civilisations that created these myths. In the next few weeks, we will be writing our own myth and sharing this learning with other.

We have had some school trips including one to the Book Festival and one to the lagoons. We enjoyed these immensely and look forward to more trips.

All of the children have their google accounts and have an invite to google classroom. I look forward to seeing some posts on the site!

Venturing Out

We are an East Lothian based, not for profit organisation that delivers adventurous outdoor activities, in the School Holidays, for children aged 8 to 14. We run these activity programmes in partnership with East Lothian Council’s Outdoor Learning Service.
Activities range from things such as kayaking, canoeing and rock climbing to coasteering, trail cycling and bushcraft. These activities offer the opportunity for children to build confidence, self esteem and resilience. These days also offer a great social setting for young people and a chance to interact with peers in different settings.
We also run an ASN Adventurous Activities provision for children with additional support needs, and their families – this is funded by ELC and enables access to our activities for children who struggle to access mainstream activities. These free sessions run fortnightly at the weekend. More information on this can be found at www.venturingout.org.uk/asn-provision.
