P7 Bake Sale

Dear Parent/Carer
Just a little reminder that P7 are having a Home Baking Sale this Friday, 11th October at 12.00 noon in the Dining Hall. We would be grateful for any donations of home baking, jams and marmalades by 11.30 a.m. on Friday morning. Please put your name and year on any containers that you hand in so that we ensure that we return to the correct families.

Thank you so much for supporting our event. We look forward to welcoming you on Friday!

Kind Regards,

P7 Pupils & Parents.

Dress Down Day this Friday – healthy smoothies too!

It’s the last Friday of the month again already, and that means Dress Down Day.

This month, we are doing it slightly differently. Instead of a pound, we are asking that children bring in a donation for the Winter Fair. This month we are asking that everyone brings a bottle of something as a donation for the winter fair; pop, juice, water, wine – anything that you might have lying around, as long as it is unused, sealed and the best before date is after the end of November.

Also, the Parent Council will be selling smoothies from 1215 in the Dining Hall, so come and get your fruit fix!

Go Forth for Charity Walk

Some of our former pupils, parents and staff will remember Margaret McPake, Teacher & Deputy Head Teacher at Loretto for many years.  Shortly after Margaret’s retirement she was sadly diagnosed with Alzheimers.  Margaret has been in hospital permanently for the last 3 years and heartbreakingly for the family she no longer recognises them or is able to communicate with them. Her husband Tommy visits every day without fail but she is unaware he is there.

On 16th June Margaret’s daughter, Anne Gold, along with Margaret’s 3 granddaughters, Rachel, Ruth and Lucy (all former pupils) will be doing a sponsored walk across the Forth Road Bridge in fancy dress.  They are raising funds for  Alzheimer Scotland.  Anne’s employer will match the funds they raise up to £500.  If you would like to support the girls then please visit http://www.justgiving.com/Anne-Gold to make your donation.

Alternatively, donations can be handed into the school office.

Thank you for your support.

NEWS FROM P1/2

This week in P1/2 we are enjoying health week.  Today we did some street dancing – it was lots of fun.  We danced to good music and we were all tired, hot and sweaty afterwards.  Yesterday we got to taste smoothies.  They were very yummy.  We are looking forward to making them at home following our recipe instructions.

Today we got to visit the nursery to see the butterflies.  They were caterpillars a few weeks ago but now they are butterflies.  We have also grown sunflowers as part of our topic.  We planted the seeds and then watched them grow.

We have been very busy in P1/2 as last week we went on our trip to the National Gallery.  We seen lots of big paintings and we also got to draw our own pictures with chalks which was very messy!
