Teddy Bears Picnic
Houses and Homes (P1/2)
We are well underway with our Houses and Homes topic. We have been thinking about the features of houses and have created our own collaborative houses on a street. We decided to call our street ‘Loretto Street’. We have still to add families to our houses and will use these to influence our drama and writing lessons. We have been outside sketching houses and will have the chance to take Jasper Bear home to let him see what it is like to live in our own homes. We are planning to share our learning on this topic during a class assembly in March which all parents will be invited to. We have lots of work to do to make sure we are prepared. We will keep you updated regularly with our progress.
New Year!!!
Happy New Year Primary 1/2. I hope you have all had a lovely holiday and are looking forward to coming back to school. I look forward to hearing all of your news and finding out what lovely gifts Santa delivered on Christmas morning,
Our new topic this term will be Houses and Homes so it would be great if you could have a little think about things you would like to learn or activities that we could do to make our learning fun. We can plan our topic together in class this week.
Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow!
Miss Wood 🙂
Christmas Party!
Primary 1/2 had their Christmas party today. We all dressed up in our party clothes ready to go to the hall.  We had a great time with P2/3 and 3 playing lots of games and we even had a dance competition. We also had a very special visit from Santa who gave us each a gift. To say thank you to Santa, we sang him one of our nativity songs. After all of the games, we went for some party food in the dinner hall and listened to some Christmas music. It really was a great afternoon. Look at some of our party pictures!…
‘Little Angel Gets Her Wings’- Christmas Nativity
Primary 1/2, 2/3 and 3 have been learning about the Christmas Nativity story. They put on a fantastic performance of ‘Little Angel Gets Her Wings’ after lots of hard work and practise. P1 were the nativity characters and had to act out the story. P2 were the musicians who used musical instruments to accompany the lovely songs. P3 were the narrators who told the story. All of the children sang the songs of the nativity beautifully and made the show entertaining for the audiences. Well done everyone – you were all absolute stars! 🙂
Fizz Pop Fairies/ Library Visit
P1/2 have had a busy start to this term. We have been learning about people who help us. We had a lovely visit from Linda MaCann who came to teach us about keeping our teeth healthy and clean. She brought some real fairies with her and one was really naughty and tried to tie our shoe laces together. We made our very own fairy puppets and got to decorate them with lots of different materials and sparkly things. It was great!
We have also had a visit to Musselburgh Library where we were able to become members and borrow our own book. During our visit we talked to the librarians about their jobs and listened to two stories- ‘There are NO Cats in this Book’ and ‘Ssshhh’. We had a lovely morning and hope to go back to the library soon to borrow some more books.
P1/2 visit Musselburgh Police Station
On Friday the 1st of October P1/2 had a special visit to Musselburgh Police Station linked to our ‘People Who Help Us’ topic. We had a fantastic morning investigating the old cells, looking at the photograph and testing rooms and we even had our finger prints taken like real criminals. PC Smith was really funny but he told us lots of important information about his job. He sometimes has to put people in handcuffs and even has to visit them in court if they have been really naughty. He also has nicer jobs like visiting schools to help children learn about staying safe. The cells in the police station are not used anymore but we were allowed to have a look around. They were really cold and had little beds which looked really uncomfortable. We thought is was funny that police officers use to have to flush the toilets of the cells as they didn’t have flushes inside. We would like to say thank you to PC Smith and to the mum’s who came on the trip with us. Thank you 🙂
