Challenge Friday

Last week the Primary 1 and Nursery Afternoon Group worked together for challenge Friday. The Primary 1 children completed a treasure hunt set by the Nursery and the Primary 1 children created a treasure hunt in the woods for the Nursery children. The children worked as teams to complete the treasure hunt challenges. The children used early mapping skills during the challenge. Well done everyone!

Mandarin Challenge Event

This afternoon P3 children hosted a celebration of Mandarin language learning and Chinese cultural learning in the gym hall. It was a fantastic way to showcase all of the work that the children have carried out over the course of the year and a wonderful way to show our appreciation of all the hard work Mengyao, Miss Kinsella and Mrs Hill have done.
The hall was set into stations and the P3 children were in charge of an activity. Children from various classes attended for a short session and moved around the bases. This helped P3 children to become leaders of learning. Well done!
Thank you to all of the staff involved in this truly fantastic activity!

Today Charlotte, our French assistant, said goodbye! Charlotte worked with many of the children across the school to support their French learning.  We have learnt so much from her and will miss her! We wish her well for her return to Paris and hope that she will keep in touch.

Merci beaucoup!

Today was an extra special day at our school with many visitors coming to meet us! P4-P7 attended an author event in the gym hall before break and Pinkie and Burgh children arrived to meet him afterwards.
Barry Hutchison is a very funny author who has written over 70 books! His new book, Beaky Malone, sounds absolutely wonderful! Barry read us an extract. We all want to find out what happens next.
We are all enjoying our Reading is Braw project and events like this really keep us interested.
Thank you to everyone who helped to organise today.

Reading Is Braw Storyteller Visit to P1 and P1/2

P1 and P1/2 were lucky to have a visit from a storyteller called Fraser this morning. He told us some scary stories, funny stories and silly stories. We squealed and laughed and smiled! The children were captivated throughout the session. Fraser told us about a letter he had received from Roald Dahl many years ago. Roald Dahl asked him to tell children that reading makes us so much better at our learning in so many ways. The children who have kept up with their Reading Is Braw challenge and have kept their diaries up to date will be receiving their wristbands today! We are at the end of week 10 – only 5 weeks to the party! Keep on reading!
