Eco Carbon fast for Lent

Working with our parish we would like to encourage you to do something positive to help our planet. Every year the Church encourages us to fast as part of our Lenten observance. This year we invite you to fast by reducing your carbon ( or energy) consumption.

Here is an idea we can all  try next week.

Use wax strips and reusable sandwich boxes and containers to take your lunch to school or work.

Thank you from Mollie and Lewis

Enrolling for Nursery 2020/21

Nursery enrolment: Enrol your child by 6 March 2020

Families with a child born between 1 March 2017 and 28 February 2018 are being encouraged to enrol their child in nursery before 6 March 2020 for 2020/21.

Older children, or those who have not yet registered for an early learning and childcare place, should also register by this date.

To register for a place:

  • Visit www.eastlothian.gov.uk/nurseryenrolment and find out about the different options available in council nursery settings from August 2020.
  • Download a nursery registration form from the website.
  • Complete the form and take it to your preferred (first) choice nursery. You should also take your child’s birth certificate.
  • If you are choosing a blend of more than one provider, apply to your council nursery first and then speak to your funded provider – private nursery, childminder or community group – about what hours you would like from them.
  • Make sure your application is in before 6 March 2020. Applications will still be accepted after this date, but they will not be considered in the first allocation process. Please get in touch with the Early Years and Childcare team if you have any questions or you can’t register by 6 March 2020.

Careers’ Day

Today, P7 had a very engaging and informative day! They were visited by many different adults who spoke about their jobs. During this “Careers’ Day”, the children learnt lots about the importance of working hard in order to realise their ambitions after they leave school. They learnt about different pathways of training and qualifications.
There were many different jobs that we learnt about including, architecture, coastguard, data analyst, Scientist, police officer, paramedic and civil engineering. The children took notes on all of these and asked some really insightful questions. Thank you to all of the people who took part. The children will be writing some letters of thanks and these will be with you soon.
Our Twitter has some super photos and more information.

Come and join us-see you child’s learning in action-reminder

We are sharing our learning and reporting to parents Tuesday 8th October and Thursday 10th October. Parents are invited into classes 9.15am till 10.20am. You will be able to see the children working on their numeracy and explaining it to you. Teas and coffees are being served in the dining hall from the morning bell-to let us register the children. Please stay and see how well your child is progressing in numeracy. Don’t worry if you did not send back the slip-just come along. We love having you.

School and nursery open as usual Thursday 19 September

Dear parents

As you know, today we had a problem with our heating in parts of the building and the children were accommodated in the school gym hall or with our friends and neighbours at the Burgh Primary School.

Engineers have visited and specialist cleaning and testing has taken place. The problem is resolved and we have been assured there is not, nor was, any risk to staff or pupils. We are grateful to our colleagues across  East Lothian for the swift support to ensure our comfort and safety and to our school staff for ensuring the children have also had a day of learning.

School and nursery will be OPEN as normal tomorrow Thursday 19th September.

Many thanks for your patience and support.

Well done boys and girls!

A Great Start to the Year in P7T

Well done to all of the children who have been working hard in P7T! I can’t believe that it is already the September holiday!

We started off by learning about the Bermuda Triangle, our pupil choice topic. This was very engaging for all of the children who used their detective skills to find out and to propose some theories. Some children were quite active in their imaginations. It was wonderful to read the stories that all of the children wrote.

We have now moved on to investigating myths. We are learning about the different civilisations that created these myths. In the next few weeks, we will be writing our own myth and sharing this learning with other.

We have had some school trips including one to the Book Festival and one to the lagoons. We enjoyed these immensely and look forward to more trips.

All of the children have their google accounts and have an invite to google classroom. I look forward to seeing some posts on the site!
