On 12 June 2018 a paper was presented to Cabinet seeking approval to undertake a feasibility study and consultation on the introduction of a Common Secondary School Day and potential resultant benefits for Primary education. A feasibility consultation document has now been prepared and a feasibility consultation has commenced.

Early Learning and Childcare Service Model for 2020: Consultation Paper

As you may be aware, the Early Learning and Childcare Service Model for 2020 Consultation Paper was launched by the Scottish Government on 29th March 2018 and will remain open for response until 29 June 2018.

East Lothian Council is putting together a response to the Scottish Government consultation and is keen to make sure its response takes account of the views of local people.

Yesterday, East Lothian Council launched their own Consultation exercise on the same subject, and the responses submitted will be collated and used to inform East Lothian Council’s formal response to the Scottish Government’s consultation. Our own consultation will close on 27th May 2018, and a link to this can be found below:

Please remember if you wish to reply directly to the Scottish Government you will need to do so separately through their consultation hub.

Draft Consultation on School Term Dates 2019/20

The consultation on School Session Dates for 2019/2020 will be open on the Council’s Consultation Hub from Tuesday 27 March 2018 until Friday 4 May 2018.  This consultation on the draft school session dates for 2019/2020 aims to seek stakeholder views – please take the time to have a look and comment.  Our neighbouring authorities, City of Edinburgh Council and Midlothian Council have set, or are in the process of setting, their session dates and these dates are available on the respective websites.  The East Lothian Council draft dates for 2019/2020 have taken cognisance of our neighbouring authority dates and very much align with City of Edinburgh Council dates.
