On Tuesday some teachers came into our classroom. We knew most of the teachers and we soon learned the names of the ones that we didn’t. They were Miss Burke, Mr Scott, Mrs Clarke, Miss Lavelle, Mrs Dalglish, Mrs Gill and Mrs Baker. Two teachers came in at a time and they looked at our work and asked us questions. We were a little worried in case they asked us hard questions that we might not be able to answer! Also, last week in school Mr Bonnar told us that there is going to be a special football game happening for Primary 3. Girls and boys will both take part. We can’t wait. We are having an exciting time this term with lots to look forward to. We have just found out that our trip is going to be to East Links Family Park and we can’t wait for that either. PLANTERS IN FRONT PLAYGROUND
The ongoing work to improve our playground moved on again today with the ‘planting up’ of the planters in the front playground adding yet more colour to the front of the school.
We would like to thank Canon McMullan for donating the money to buy all the beautiful plants. We hope to see them flourish over the summer and give us lots of colours and scents. A big thank you also to Mr Bonner for weeding the planters and helping with the planting.
We would ask that all parents ensure that their children don’t climb over the planters and also that noone sits on the planters, especially adults. This will ensure that the wood and plants don’t get damaged and that they will last for many years to come for many more children and parents to enjoy.
Thank you.

Primary 3 Update
A few days ago we each wrote a letter to enter a competition. If you are the winner you get to go to Glasgow and get a front row seat listening to Oliver Jeffers. He is an author who has written books like How to Catch a Star and The Way Back Home. Our class really like his books and we hope we win the trip to Glasgow! We have started to prepare our assembly about Musselburgh. We have our Honest Lad and Lass. Bruce will be The Honest Lad and Lucy will be The Honest Lass. We hope our Mum’s and Dad’s will be able to come to our assembly and that they enjoy it. by Ryan and Fizaa

Moshi Monsters
This morning we have been doing stuff about Moshi Monsters. It was quite fun. We got a piece of paper and drew circles around the Moshi Monsters. We are trying to count how many there are all together. After we put circles around the monsters we made a note of all the different colours. For our Maths we made a graph. We are going to find out which colour is the most popular. By Ross and Kyle Primary 3
Playground Project – The Storytelling Chair has arrived!
As part of the plans for the playground project the Parent Council wanted to create an open-air classroom in the wooded area of the rear playground. Late last year we commissoned the making of a storytelling chair. The chair was designed and hand-made by one of our parents – Andy Mangan, Dad of Kyle in P3. As you will see from the photos the finished chair exceeded all our expectations and looks absolutely wonderful!
We would like to express a huge thanks to Andy for all the hard work, imagination and hours of time he put into creating this wonderful chair for our open-air classroom. Thanks also goes to Bill Gleeson for storing the chair until the weather improved enough to install it and also for transporting the chair to the school and helping Andy to put it together. Mr Mangan Snr was also there on the day to lend a hand so thanks to him also.
Primary 5 and Mrs Dalglish are now working on lots of ideas to improve the wooded area as part of their John Muir Trust Award. They have already cleared the area of rubbish and litter and cleaned out the composting bins (yeuk!) so they can restart the composting properly. They will also be working with a team from the ‘Dadswork’ project who will be helping with some of the bigger jobs. We are looking forward to hearing and seeing more from them soon.
Let’s hope the weather improves so the storytelling chair can be put to good use!

Chicks in Primary 1/2
There has been great excitement in Primary 1/2, where we have seen the awe and wonder of new life. As we learn about Living Things we have observed chicks hatching in class. We have hatched 10 chicks and 5 ducks and all are doing well.

ZooLab visit to the nursery
Both the Morning and Afternoon Nursery Groups were lucky enough to have a visit from ZooLab today. Tristan brought along cockroaches, giant snails, toads, a tarantula, giant millipedes, a snake and a rat! The children learned the importance of handling the animals carefully, and about handwashing after touching animals, as well as lots of facts about the animals themselves. We got to hold the animals if we wanted to, and most children were keen to hold or stroke the animals!
Here are some of the photos from today. Please add some comments by clicking on ‘add comments’ above, and tell us what you think about the photos! Comments will appear shortly after they have been moderated.
