A great big Thank You to all Primary 1 Parents

Well done Primary 1 for being such a super class and for working so hard throughout your first year at Loretto. I want to thank your parents for their very generous gifts at the end of term. It was very kind of you all. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to teach you. Have a great holiday and come back ready for Primary 2. Thanks again, Frances Ramage.

Nursery Sports Day

The Nursery children had great fun taking part in their sports in the morning and afternoon. We had relay, egg and spoon, sack, hula hoop and running races! The Primary 6 children (our buddies for next year for those of us going into Primary 1 after the summer) came to help us. They had good fun too and took part in some of the races. It was very funny watching them do the ‘invisible sack’ race!

Our Active Summer

Mrs Sellwood would like to set up a display in the gym hall when we return after the holidays about ‘Our Active Summer’.

Could you please take some photos of you taking part in sport, playing in the park, in the garden or anything that shows you being active in the summer holidays and bring them in to Mrs Sellwood.

Hopefully the sun will shine!

Thank You

Mrs Sellwood – PE Teacher

Sports Day

The sun did not really shine on Friday morning, however, we still had lots of fun. Well done to all the children for trying so hard to win points for their house. A great big thank you to all the parents who helped out. We could not have done it without you. A special thanks to the scorers! Jessica Scott in Primary 1 won the Gavin Innes trophy for working hard in class throughout the year and for showing determination on sports day. Great effort Jessica and thanks again to all the helpers. Oh and congratulations to St Patrick’s, the winning house!

Go Forth for Charity Walk

Some of our former pupils, parents and staff will remember Margaret McPake, Teacher & Deputy Head Teacher at Loretto for many years.  Shortly after Margaret’s retirement she was sadly diagnosed with Alzheimers.  Margaret has been in hospital permanently for the last 3 years and heartbreakingly for the family she no longer recognises them or is able to communicate with them. Her husband Tommy visits every day without fail but she is unaware he is there.

On 16th June Margaret’s daughter, Anne Gold, along with Margaret’s 3 granddaughters, Rachel, Ruth and Lucy (all former pupils) will be doing a sponsored walk across the Forth Road Bridge in fancy dress.  They are raising funds for  Alzheimer Scotland.  Anne’s employer will match the funds they raise up to £500.  If you would like to support the girls then please visit http://www.justgiving.com/Anne-Gold to make your donation.

Alternatively, donations can be handed into the school office.

Thank you for your support.
