Sports Day 2013

Please note that Sports Day will take place this Friday 7th June, starting at 9.30 am.  If you are able to volunteer to help on the day and will not be responsible for young children, please come to a meeting with Mrs Ramage on Thursday at 3pm.  If the weather is bad on the day the reserve date for Sports Day is Friday 14th June.

Super Smoothies!

It’s Health Week at Loretto and we kicked off our week with a visit from some very healthy people who came to show us how to make smoothies!

We had a tasting session where we used our senses to guess what was in the smoothie and then we had the chance to make one!

Recipes came home in schoolbags yesterday so why not have a go?!

Here we are in action!

NEWS FROM P1/2

This week in P1/2 we are enjoying health week.  Today we did some street dancing – it was lots of fun.  We danced to good music and we were all tired, hot and sweaty afterwards.  Yesterday we got to taste smoothies.  They were very yummy.  We are looking forward to making them at home following our recipe instructions.

Today we got to visit the nursery to see the butterflies.  They were caterpillars a few weeks ago but now they are butterflies.  We have also grown sunflowers as part of our topic.  We planted the seeds and then watched them grow.

We have been very busy in P1/2 as last week we went on our trip to the National Gallery.  We seen lots of big paintings and we also got to draw our own pictures with chalks which was very messy!

Health Week and Sport’s Day 3rd – 7th June 2013

Next week the whole school will be thinking about keeping healthy. We have a number of visitors coming into school. The children will be making smoothies, taking part in multi sports, learning how to use the Internet safely and taking part in Street Dance. These are only a few of the activities that the children will participate in. The Primary 7’s will lead us each day in an aerobics workout. The week will end with sport’s day on Friday 7th June. Could you please ask your child which house they belong to and then let them wear that house colour to school on Friday. St Andrew’s should wear a blue top. St Michael’s should wear a red top and St Patrick’s a green one. Thanks again for your support. We hope you can come along on Friday morning to see the children participate and try hard to earn points for their house.

Please note that the P7 High School visits are as follows:

Musselburgh Grammar Visits – Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th June
