Learning to sign!

At Macmerry Primary the pupils are learning to do days of the week and their alphabet in sign language! We are doing this to appreciate that deaf people have their own language. The 4th most used language in Britain is sign language.

Meet Jamie

Jamie’s favourite colour is blue . He went to primary school in Australia  which he really liked.  Jamie enjoys hill walking. Unfortunately he can’t come to coffee morning. He does not like hot chocolate. His favourite subjects were Music and English. He likes working a Macmerry and his favourite thing was when he walked to the top of Ben Vorlich. The most difficult thing about his job is that there is not enough time to do everything.

Welcome Evening Thursday 9th September.

On Thursday 9th September 7-8 pm there is a welcome meeting at Macmerry Primary School. There is a chance to meet the teachers and discuss the year ahead. Everybody is welcome and if you have children in different classes you can see both teachers because each teacher has two different sessions.

Moving on up!

On Tuesday the whole school ‘moved up’ for a taster day at their new stage. The morning nursery children came along and had a trial run at being in school as Primary 1s. All the other children went into their classes they will be in after the Summer. There were various activities on the go. Most children made tray labels and peg signs for their new class and all classes wrote poems on, or drew pictures of Scottish wildlife for a biodiversity competition.
