Block Play Workshop

Block play provides a natural context for the development of early maths concepts, such as number, quantity, measuring, symmetry and pattern as well as comparisons such as more or less.

In this workshop, we will explore the ways in which block play promotes the development of young children in a variety of areas (social/emotional, physical, cognitive, language, mathematical) and look at the stages of block play, the role of the adult and how block play relates to SEAL. We will share our experiences of developing block play in our setting through the process of professional enquiry.

These are resources from the Block Play workshop session run by Catriona Gill , Janette Gaunt and colleagues of Loretto Primary School, Musselburgh.
