Welcome to S6! You are in your final school year, and so it is essential you continue to plan your next steps beyond 6th year. You have decided to return to school for another year, and this should be the time you use to maximise your chances of achieving your career goals. Having a plan in place can help you take action to move towards your dream job, and avoid procrastination.

There are resources you can take advantage of , and steps you can take to develop your awareness of options and the world of work.

Use the S6 Careers Book to get more information on your chosen pathway. Whether you’re planning to go to university, college or to find work, this booklet provides links to relevant resources – all in one place. S6-Careers-Book-22.23

  • If you are planning to go to university – research your chosen course information, including entry criteria , and research information on writing UCAS statement
  • If you are considering further education college – research local colleges and courses on offer, including entry criteria. Also, colleges run open information days which are  a good opportunity to find out more about what you could study, what progression routes  and what funding may be available.
  • If you’re considering going to work , including apprenticeships – research the apprenticeships family here ,  build up your CV and cover letter, practice your job interview skills, use your Networks to learn about any vacancies available, and look for opportunities from February onwards.
