I am writing to let you know about an exciting opportunity that might be of interest to your S5/6 pupils who are interested in working in the music industry. On March 14th, March 21st, April 4th and April 11th, we will be running a free intensive course called Introduction to Employability in the Music Industry (Music Management).
The aim of the course is to help candidates develop their understanding of the requirements of the workplace, focusing on the challenges and requirements of working in the fast-paced music industry. In addition, participants will be given a broad overview of what it means to be an artist manager in the music industry.
Following an interview on the final day of the course, two successful candidates from each cohort will have the opportunity to take up a 1 week paid internship with a local music industry employer (paid at £150 per week). This course will be run at the Edinburgh centre from 10am-5pm Monday-Friday.
Lunches will be supplied by the Academy of Music and Sound and learners can claim up to £20 per week for travel expenses (receipts must be supplied).
Applications can be made online at http://academyofmusic.ac.uk/scotland/contact-us/apply-now
While I understand pupils will be busy with exams at this time of year, I would appreciate it if you could pass this information on to any that be interested in this opportunity. If you, or your pupils have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
