NYOS Training Ensembles courses are between 3 and 4 days in length and take place at Kilgraston boarding school in Perthshire during the school summer holidays.
There are courses for wind, strings, brass and percussion to enable young musicians (aged 8 to 14) to explore ensemble playing and develop their musicianship skills, with advice on future orchestral auditions.
Each course culminates with a private showcase concert for friends and family. Tutors are drawn from orchestral backgrounds and specialist music schools around Scotland, and key leaders in their field when it comes to training Scotland’s young talent.
These courses also provide students time for wider social development including sport, leisure activities or just relaxing and socialising with others who share their passion for music.
The courses have limited spaces and spaces are allocated on a first come first served basis. Some sections fill up faster than others and a few instrument groups are now full.
However, NYOS would still love to hear from young percussionists, trumpet, trombone, tuba, violists, bassoon players, harpists and cello players who would be interested in taking the next step in their classical music education.
