This will take place on Tuesday 21st September at 7-8pm via Googlemeet. Please email the Communications inbox if you would like to be sent the link.
Matters of business will include agreeing the Parent Council Constitution and the election of a new Chair and members. Please do consider if you would like to be our new Chair – it’s a great opportunity to represent the Parent Forum and work in partnership with the school.
On Friday 10th September, staff and young people took part in the raising of the Eco-Flag, a wonderful event which celebrated North Berwick’s success and commitment to environmental education and action as recognised by this Eco Schools Award. The strength of partnership and collaboration between the pupils on the Eco Committee and our coordinator, Ms Prete, was very apparent and speaks to our school values of diligence, respect and our desire to protect our community and environment. Thank you to the former pupils and staff who came to celebrate with us.
Mrs Moore read the poem “There Will Come Soft Rains” by the poet Sara Teasdale, who wrote her lines during the flu pandemic of 1918 where she, like many of us of late, turned to Nature for hope. It seemed fitting to read her words to mark the occasion. This is our third Eco-Flag and I know there are great things to come from this year’s Eco Committee which will support the retention of this status in future years. Well done all!
Last week, it became necessary to close the main block toilets during class time. They remained open at break and lunch. All accessible toilets remained open to pupils throughout the day. This was a short-term measure to ensure a clear message was sent about what is and is not acceptable within our school community. It may be necessary to repeat this if further safety concerns emerge – it is not a decision that is taken lightly.
All toilets have been open again since Monday 6th September.
Thank you for your understanding at this time.
