Gap Medics Programmes

Gap Medics strives to strengthen pupils as individuals, applicants and future health providers. They have standardised programmes abroad which centre on structured, observational shadowing placements under the guidance of international mentors. In addition to observing a variety of diagnoses, treatments and procedures in our partner hospitals, pupils are privileged to attend department meetings and interact with patients.

Maths Department Senior Phase Online Textbook Access

The maths department has bought the license to textbooks for N4 & N5 Maths and N5 Lifeskills Maths.  These can be accessed via the school maths pages or by visiting:

https://connect.collins.co.uk/school/NORTHBER1/Student

All senior phase students have been issued with a username and password.  Please contact the maths department if you need a reminder!

For those using iPhones and iPads, our experience is that downloading Google Chrome web browser makes this resource much more user friendly.

For those following Higher, there are HSN resources for each topic uploaded onto the website.  We have currently covered The Straight Line and Vectors but it would also be worth looking over some of the Essential Skills folders for N5 revision too.

Please use the summer to get your notes in order and come back in August ready to build on your learning.

Gold Medal Success at Gardening Scotland Show

garden 1

We are delighted that the NBHS pop up garden at the Gardening Scotland Show at Ingliston has won a gold medal!

Many congratulations to our participating pupils: Jamie Fleming, Fraser Higgins, Alex Parfitt, Cherry Gallacher, Cera Gemmell, Chloe Harkness, Jodie McDougall, Ellen Clark and Heather Fortune, who with the guidance of Dr McKendrick and Mrs Bloomfield, worked hard to design and create a beautiful and imaginative garden to suit the theme of ‘Health and Happiness’.  This was a fantastic team effort, with some of our S3 art pupils also getting involved with the initial design process.

A big thank you is due to all the parents who kindly donated plants and items which were cleverly incorporated into the design.

The NBHS garden will be on show at the Gardening Scotland Show for the remainder of the weekend.  Also look out for our pupils talking about the NBHS garden on the STV news this evening.
