Florence Gets a Hand

Florence and the Machine grabbed two awards at this year’s NME music awards held yesterday at London’s O2 Academy, Brixton.

Florence aged 25, won the award of Best Solo Artist.
She beat Adele to it! Also, her song ‘Shake It Out’ was voted best track. She quoted “I’m really incredibly grateful. It is slightly strange because I’ve never been quite sure whether I’m a solo act or a band.”

Florence and the Machine performed at the event with The Horrors. They gave their thanks to their management team as they their received award. The Horrors got the award for their third album ‘Skying’ which was voted best album. The Vaccines, who were voted best new band, also won an award in that category.

Overall Florence was very grateful and obviously the fans thought she deserved the award. The night was a huge success!
