CHARITIES COMMITTEE

The Charities Committee, led by S6 students takes an active leadership role raising awareness and encouraging our young people to serve others not only in  our community but in the wider world.

Each year,  three charities are chosen – one local, one national and one international and they then plan and organise a programme of events to raise money for these causes throughout the school session

Local charities have included Leuchie House, Jess Mackie Memorial Fund,  Beach Wheelchairs and East Lothian Young Carers and nationally we have raised funds for Social Bite, Young Minds, Alzheimers Scotland and the Scottish Air Ambulance Service.

International Charities are all based in Malawi, a country we have supported for many years, so funds go towards our partner school, Katunguwiri Community Day Secondary School,  Mary’s Meals kitchens in two Primary Schools or the Ekwendeni HIV/Aids Youth Resource Centre.

This session, our chosen charities are The Wave Project, Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity and Mary’s Meals.

In addition we organise collections for the Earl Haig Poppy Appeal and our Christmas appeal- East Lothian Foodbank.
