To help us celebrate Halloween we made pumpkin lanterns to put our display and the children enjoyed the story ‘Room on the Broom’ by Julia Donaldson and ‘Meg and Mog’ stories. After Halloween we put our lanterns in the composter.
We made very sparkly firework pictures.
The children from the nursery have enjoyed their Autumn activities. They collected leaves and conkers which they used to make lovely pictures for display.
In the nursery we have been learning about Harvest time. We watched a DVD all about a combine cutting a field and what it did to the wheat. We used a mortar and pestle to grind up some wheat to make flour. We made bread for snack and also tried some other foods made from wheat.
The Nursery staff would like to welcome back our pre-school children and send a warm welcome to all the new children who have started this session. We look forward to the exciting year ahead.
Sadly one of the magnificent Chestnut trees from the main street had to be taken down. However the council tree fellers very kindly used the trunk to make the nursery and school some seats which are out in the playground for the children to enjoy.
We have launched our toothbrushing initiative again with a visit from Josephine our Dental Health Support Worker.
