New Planters

Primary 3 and 4 took advantage of the dry spell this afternoon to plant up their area planter. Thanks to jannie Peter for building them and thanks go to Eddie the school janitor for helping to wheelbarrow round some of the compost.
The school playground looks very colourful already.

SCHOOL FAYRE – Saturday 25th September 2pm to 4pm

The Parent Council are organising the School Fayre which will be held at the school on Saturday 25th September 2010 from 2pm to 4pm.  We are looking for lots of volunteers to assist us in ensuring that this event is a success.

We wonder whether you can donate some time to assist with setting up on the Friday afternoon, manning a stall on the day, or with pricing goods.  Alternatively, if you work for a company which may be able to provide a donation for our raffle or funds, we would be most grateful.  We would like to hear your ideas and suggestions too.  Please come along to the meeting on 14th September 2010 at 7pm in the school if you would like to help.

If you have any queries, please contact Gail Walshe on 07774 225901.

Many thanks.

Primary 3 Assembly

Primary three are practising very hard for their assembly next Friday (11th June at 10.50am) They have been learning about the Victorian Seaside as part of their topic and will be telling the school what they have found out about.

Prestongrange Mining Museum

Primary three enjoyed their visit to the museum today. They met Sarah who showed them around the Beam Engine. This was the highlight of their visit as they got to climb to the top. They also dressed up like Victorians and had ‘tea’.
At the centre they looked at the exhibits and drew one of their favourite pieces and wrote about it. Back at the shop, Sarah told them about the history of the mine and what it was like for children in those days who worked picking up all the coal that had been dug. [rockyou 157772896]

World Book Day

Last Thursday (4thMarch) was World Book Day. We celebrated this in school by listening to well known children’s author Michael Rosen. Classes from P3 to P7 listened to him through a live internet link. He kept everyone enthralled by his stories and poems written in his very own style for forty minutes.
