Welcome back p. 3!!

  • We have been practicing basketball skills in P.E. Elliot, Findley and Issi were super-fast dribblers. Molly created a sequence of skills. She threw the ball up, clapped 5 times, caught it and then threw it up with one hand and caught it with the other.
  • We have done some EPIC maths. The diamonds have been dividing by 10s. Rubies revised division for their assessment next week. Emeralds have been using flashcards to get quicker at their timestables.
  • We got our new co-operative learning groups and we gave them funny, long names (like the Best in the World, Gymnastic, Golden apple, Green Bulls team) and came up with a handshake. We made flowers with petals. Whenever we get points in our teams, we get a petal. When we get 6 petals, we get a gold star in the middle worth 20 points, we take the petals off and start collecting them again.
  • We have started to think about writing newspaper articles. We looked at lots of different articles this morning and made a poster of all the features we could see. They have a catchy, bold title and sometimes a sub-title which gives you more information. They tell a story in 3rd person, in a factual way. The reporter must be impartial like a referee.
  • Our new topic this term is Pencaitland. We made maps of Pencaitland and put all the important landmarks on it.
