A quick catch up

We are a bit behind on news. However, last Monday, the 27th of April, we had the Zoo Lab come to visit us. They brought a corn snake, a tarantula, a giant African snail, a millipede and a cockcroach. Our favourite fact was that the cockcroach can eat everything from poo to carpets, to walls to humans! We wrote newspaper articles about the visit. Attached is one example by Ollie, Bethany, Josh, Kayleigh, Finley, Elliot and Toby. Click on the following link: Newspaper outline.

In maths we have been working out how many thousands, hundreds, tens and units numbers have. We have played place value throw with hoops and fluff balls.

We have had football coaches called Lorna and Callum. We did warm-up games, like different types of tig. After that, we learnt different tricks. Then, we played football matches. We need to get better at looking up and passing accurately.

We have learnt that early settlers used to live around this area in the bronze age. A woman was found buried with a beaker near Haddington. The beaker people brought bronze making techniques to Britain. We made our own beakers out of salt dough. We learnt an ancient bronze story about Lugh the God of Light. We also made bronze age round houses and thought about the best position to put them in for a settlement.

We will be doing lots of drawing this term. We started with drawing portraits of each other yesterday. Noah thought that “mine actually did sort of look like Duncan.” “Jessica did really nice eyes for me.” Issi stated.”Finley drew my face quite weird,” Rosie declared. (We have been finding different words for said!)

I have sent a letter home today about getting some parent helpers in. Please email me if you are available. Two dates that have just been arranged today and need added on are the 28th May and the 17th of June, from 1.30-3.00pm to go on a woodland trip with the ranger.
