We are now planning the layout of our new town.
A big thank you to the Youth Music Initiative who organised and funded these visits.
P5/6 are currently creating a new settlement. Having considered what a settlement is they then looked at the whole of Scotland for a suitable location for their new settlement.
Having chosen a location on the mainland near Skye they are now in the process of designing the new town layout.
They have been creating characters who will be the citizens of De Lorean Bay and have designed the town’s coat of arms. Here are a few examples:
We went to Glasgow science centre on the 19th of May. When we got there we went in first and had a look around on the first and second floor then went to the shop and had lunch. After lunch we went to the first floor and went to the theatre to find out about forces. We saw people lying on nails and being whacked with a hammer and saw a rocket. Then we went to the lab and learned about electricity and even made a battery! Then we got back on the bus and went home.
Two parents came in to give P5/6 the chance to try out a bit of orienteering in the school. The class was split into 3 groups. One group was using a map to find their way to various places around the school, one was finding their way through a maze and the third was learning how to orientate a map.
P5/6 have had a couple of sessions with Nik trying out cricket. A good time was had by all.
P5/6 have been teaching the Nursery children how to play Hot Chocolate in the playground. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us after Easter and we can teach them some more games.
Today P4/5 and P5/6 were entertained by two more musicians from the Youth Music Initiative. This time we had a violinist and a cellist. They played various pieces of music including one we all made up.
Samples of the performance can be watched below.
