Autumn Term 2011
I am delighted to introduce a new PTA team for 2011/12 to bring lots of exciting activities and fundraisers to the village this year. We are lucky to have 13 parent members along with Mrs Rodger and Mrs Campbell our two staff members.
Thanks to the size of the team we are very nearly able to provide each class with one or more representatives to whom you may feedback suggestions, volunteer your services or quiz about the up and coming fundraisers. The only year group who hasn’t managed this is the parents of the P6 children.
It would be lovely to see a P6 parent join us on the committee this year so if you are reading this and feel that you could spare a little time for PTA antics we would be very pleased to see you!
The new committee is as follows:
Chair: Charlotte Taylor Charlotteleopold@hotmail.com 01875 340987
Treasurer: Celia Dean celia.dean@hotmail.com
Secretary: Mat Ford mat@elandem.org
Year Group Representative PTA Member:
- PM Nursery Emma Hack and Ian Archer
AM Nursery Viv Smith
P1 Alison Mells and Janis Ward
P2 Sophie Stein
P3 Mat Ford, Sean Ramsay and Tim Neighbour
P4 Gill Sinton and Charlotte Taylor
P5 Mandy Ramsay
P7 Celia Dean
Sophie Stein has also very kindly volunteered to continue the French Club administration and we will be asking you for feedback on the service during this term. Enquiries can be made directly to Sophie at sophiestein@live.co.uk.
Fundraising Update
This year, our main focus for fundraising will be aimed at finding £6000- £8000 to go alongside grants in order to replace the nursery play area and the school PA system. So the challenge is on! Here are details of our first fundraising plans:
PTA Fireworks
SATURDAY 5th NOVEMBER, 2011 – Hope you can make it along, professional fireworks once again by Pyromancer. We will be sending out a reminder nearer the time along with an opportunity to buy tickets and volunteer your services!
As always, for free entry for yourself and a thank-you glass of mulled wine you would be very welcome to volunteer your services as a steward, on the gate, or in the food tent!!! To Volunteer now please contact Charlotte (details above).
PTA Calendar
Before Christmas expect the release of the recently improved PTA Calendar which made a record profit for the PTA last year. Anyone with an interest in placing an advert in the calendar please can you contact Janis Ward at Janis_ward@hotmail.com for rates and details. Deadline for submitting your advert will be 7th October.
Nursery Sponsored Walk
This term the morning nursery children will be involved in their own fundraising! The children will complete a route around the woods and hunt down all the animal signs in order to raise money for the nursery outdoor play area project. If you know a small person undertaking the walk please give them your support! More details to follow through the nursery for the children involved.
PTA News
Celia has been involved in applying for charity status for Pencaitland PTA through OSCR and we expect this to come through this term. This will mean that we can apply for gift aid on certain donations in the future so tick the box and fill in the details when you get the opportunity!
Thanks to Ian, the PTA will apply for PVG Scheme membership for all parent volunteers so that the volunteers can get their disclosure at no cost to themselves or the school. Keep your eyes peeled for a complete list of PTA events coming out later this term, anyone with ideas for fundraisers or spending suggestions please get in touch!
Many Thanks
Charlotte
