East Lothian *New* PLAY POLICY

East Lothian Council has recognised the vital need for play in all it’s forms to be embedded into strategy and performance, as well as opportunity, in an inclusive, equality driven modern day East Lothian.

The policy was developed by a highly motivated short-life Working Group, Theresa Casey Consultancy, Play Scotland, Support from the Start and with significant input and drive from East Lothian Play Association. This policy is being recognised as an example of Excellent Practice – and ELC would encourage every school, group, community and managers of departments both within and outwith the council, to embed PLAY* into decisions, planning and actions within East Lothian.

*Play encompasses leisure time, well-being, learning, social skills, development of core skills and higher function skills, energy and motivation and is vital for all.
