The children in Primary 1X have been busy learning about their new topic, food. We identified the five main food groups.
We have also researched different types of fruit and have been learning about the different vitamins and minerals our bodies get from these foods. This afternoon we enjoyed tasting six different fruits: apple, pear, orange, melon, banana and pineapple. We used descriptive words to record the taste of these fruits on a grid. We then used our notes to choose which was our favourite fruit.
We all had lots of fun, and very sticky fingers!
Over the last few weeks children in primary 1X have been learning about Robert Burns. Today (25/1/13) they put on an assembly for the whole school, family and friends. The children worked really hard to learn their lines, songs and poems for the assembly and understandably feel very proud.
The above link contains some pictures of the children’s assembly.
P1X have been learning about the Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky. We looked at some examples of his work and discovered that he liked to use lots of shapes (particularly circles) and colours in his work. We then created two pieces of our own, Kandinsky inspired art. If you click on the above link you can see all of the children’s art work.
Making ShofarsHappy New Year!
Primary 1X have had a very busy start to the new term. We have been learning about Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year festival) and comparing this festival with our own New Year celebrations. During Rosh Hashanah, a Shofar (Ram’s horn instrument) is blown at the Synagogue.
We made our own Shofars in class and experimented with them. The classroom was very noisy and we all had great fun. You can see the children making their Shofars on the above link.
First Week at School
The children in P1 have all thoroughly enjoyed their first week at school. Today they drew some pictures of themselves on their first day of school. We think they look fantastic! What about you?
