PTA – Pencaitland Thank you ALL

What a night!

A message from PTA Chair, Vicky –

We are really pleased to announce that we raised £900 (profit) at last week’s Quiz Night.  We would like to say a huge thanks to the wonderful quizmaster Jon Heggie who made the night very enjoyable and entertaining.  Thanks also goes out to Winton Brewery who gave us a great deal on the very tasty local beer.  A special thanks to all our generous raffle donors who helped us raise over £350 on the raffle alone (I’ve included a full list below).  And finally, thanks to all those who came along, bought raffle tickets, spent money at the bar and made for a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Thank you to all our wonderful donors, both new and old friends of PPS

A fond farewell.

Sadness and smiles

Erica Burberry, Parent Council Chair, surprised Pauline McKay today – presenting her with flowers on behalf of the parent council and wider parent / carer body.

We want to thank you for being such a special part of Pencaitland and bringing such a lot of smiles to the faces of all in it’s community, families, staff – and most importantly, our children.

We are very grateful for all you’ve done in such a short time.

Pauline stepped in as Acting Head Teacher for this term, as ELC recruited a new Head Teacher, and created a wonderful atmosphere for all – a seasoned Head of Campie Primary in Musselburgh, she steadied the school through the first term of the 2019/20 session with grace, good humour, great leadership and capturing hearts on the way.

The Parent Council decided we would like to start off Pauline’s last week at PPS in a lovely positive way –

Flowers and Fond Farewells

and presented Pauline with a bouquet in the playground, where her warm smiles and greetings to children and families have been much appreciated. We are delighted that there will be a working relationship between Campie and Pencaitland going forward and we know PPS will have a warm spot in Pauline’s heart when she returns to Musselburgh after the October break. We certainly hope “ye’ll aye come back and see us!”

PTA – AGM

It’s that time of year again – all welcome at our PTA AGM.

PTA Annual General Meeting.

Monday 2nd September, 7pm
Pencaitland Primary School (Staff Room).

If you are interested in getting involved as a PTA member or even if you would simply like to find out more about our plans for this year, we would encourage you to come along.

We also extend a very warm welcome parents new to the school, in fact a few of us (myself included) joined the PTA last year as new P1 parents. It’s a great way to meet people, get to know the school and have an impact on fundraising that will benefit your children for the whole of their time in Pencaitland Primary School.

If you can’t make the meeting, but are interested in getting involved or finding out more, please send us an email – ppspta1@gmail.com.

Looking forward to a great year!

Best wishes,

PTA & PARENT COUNCIL

A new term / school year is upon us and so perfect timing for a little news from PTA Chair, Vicky Swann, pre AGM and from PC Chair, Erica Burberry – with a warm welcome to any parents / carers to come along to our first meeting of the term, on 26th Aug – 7pm in PPS.

Hello to all the PPS families for 2019/20,

2018/19 Round up …

As always, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who got involved last year.  We managed to raise around £6,000, a fantastic achievement for all involved. Whether you were a PTA member or one of our event volunteers; whether you donated to the raffle or teddy tombola; or simply came along and spent your money, you helped to raise vital funds that support our school and help to create a wonderful environment for our children to enjoy, develop and learn.

Last year the school focused on ‘Mission Pencaitland Play’.  The project transformed the school’s outdoor space, providing a varied and rich outdoor environment for our children to enjoy.  The PTA supported the project by: funding a play expert to deliver specialist training to staff and children; funding an additional member of staff to enable all classes to participate in outdoor activities; and contributing to the purchase of two new pieces of outdoor play equipment that we hope will be a huge hit with the children this year.

Aside from Mission Pencaitland Play, the PTA also purchased 6 guitars for music classes and continued to fund transport for class trips; the Read, Write Inc subscription and the P7 leavers gifts among other things.
